Free Cervical Cancer Screening Camp

7 June 2026 — Organized by Astha Cancer Foundation (ACF) in collaboration with Aarogya Well Care Clinic at Gokarneshwor-5, Jorpati, Kathmandu, Nepal.

🔬 Key findings: Among the 20 women screened, 2 individuals (10%) tested positive for high-risk HPV infection. One participant tested positive for a high-risk HPV genotype categorized as "HPV Others", while another tested positive for both HPV 16 & a high-risk HPV genotype. ACF will take responsibility to provide further counseling and management for follow-up evaluation.

Of the 20 women screened, 2 (10%) tested positive for high-risk HPV infection. The detection of HPV 16 and other high-risk HPV genotypes highlights the presence of cervical cancer risk factors within the community. Although the sample size was limited, the findings underscore the importance of regular cervical cancer screening and early identification of high-risk HPV infections to facilitate timely follow-up and prevention of cervical cancer. The results demonstrate the value of community-based HPV DNA screening initiatives and support the continuation & expansion of such programs.

The successful completion of this camp was made possible through the Foundation's commitment to covering all costs. However, many more women in underserved communities continue to need access to screening services.

Educate patients and relatives about all aspects of cancer through IEC (Information, Education & Counseling) materials.
Provide proper guidance on options and availability of cancer treatment — both within and outside Nepal.

Co-ordinate with other cancer support groups to ensure patients receive comprehensive treatment pathways.
Provide medicine and financial support to poor and needy cancer patients and their families.
Conduct cancer detection and screening camps in both rural and urban areas of Nepal.
Counsel patients and family members about early symptoms, preventive measures, and early detection of cancer.
Visit communities to educate residents regarding cancer and the treatments available locally and abroad.
